STARS TASK 4

Hi everyone!! We are Victoria and Amparo and we have been the stars for this task. As the stars we have presented our work in this week. We had to choose an activity for children using an ICT tool. We made a Genially to present it, we had 20 seconds for each slide (20 slides), putting in practice a new technique, the PechaKucha.

The link to the presentation-------> Genially

We were a little bit nervous because of the new technique, it was a bit challenging to adjust the time of what we were saying to the 20 seconds. Nevertheless, we practised and we did the best we could. We are very happy with the work we have done.

ANALYST TASK 4

Hi everyone! How’s it going?

My name is Marina and this week I have performed the role of the Analyst which consist on evaluating the effort of my classmates.

I think that this activity was one of the most complicated since it was a new activity for all of us and no one had done a Pecha Kucha before so it was everything new for us, especially for the stars.

The best part of the activity in my opinion it has been to do the interactive image. We did many tries because it was so easy and funny and we were having a good time in group and maybe the worst part was to do the presentation because we had to do exactly 20 slides and when you have a limit is more difficult to do.

We have learnt many things with this task. Now, we know how to use a new tool of which we hadn’t listened to before and that we think that will be very useful in our future but we have just not learnt about our task. With the presentations of our partners we have also learned other tools and while we were choosing the activities, like we had to read all the activities, we have found that there are many ways or doing activities that can be very helpful for different subjects to learn new things but in a funnier and more interesting way.

In my opinion, we work very well as a group. We help and learn from each other and we always try to work with the whole group but if we can’t we always manage to organize ourselves and find the day that best suit us. There is never one person working alone, we always try to be three if we cannot all together but in most cases, we always work as the whole group. It is very helpful because if you feel that you are not being useful, there is always someone encouraging you to keep going and achieve it.

In contrast, what we need to improve is that we usually get distracted easily and we start talking about our things, but fortunately, there is always one person who is concentrated and compel us to stay focused on what we have to do.

TRANSLATOR TASK 4

Hello! I am Elena Belver Morales and this week I perform the role of Translator. My main function is to define the five main concepts that our group has come across while doing this week’s task, in which we were required to explore the TACCLE 2 book for primary school children and then present one of the activities in a Pecha Kucha style. These are the five concepts I believe should be highlighted:

  • TACCLE 2

This is a project funded with support from the European Commission that addresses the importance of engaging students in producing their learning objects. It does so by providing a series of 5 supplementary handbooks (in Dutch, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian) of several subjects: primary education, maths, science and technology, key competencies, arts and culture and humanities.

  • Pecha Kucha

It is a type of presentation that consists of 20 slides that must be presented in 20 seconds each one of them, meaning that the presentation lasts six minutes and forty seconds in total. This method has been gaining popularity lately, and nowadays it is extremely common, due to the fact that it is a very clear and dynamic way of doing presentations.

The term Pecha Kucha comes from Japanese and it is an onomatopoeia used to refer to the sound of casual talk.

  • Blabberize

It is an online tool that allows adding voice to a 2d image or photograph and then send the message to other people. This can be really useful in education, for many and varied subjects: for instance, it can be used as a way to increase vocabulary in another language or, as we considered, as a method for improving the relationship between the students as classmates.

  • Bloom Taxonomy

This is a framework elaborated by Bloom that classifies cognitive ability into six categories: knowledge —recall of previously learned materials—, comprehension —extending beyond the memorization of previously learned material to make simple interpretations—, application —putting learned information to reach a solution—, analysis —breaking down complex material into its component parts so it can be better explained—, synthesis —combining available elements to form a new whole—, evaluation —making a judgment as to the value of materials or ideas—.

  • Technology

It is the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation of technical means —skills, methods and processes— which are used to achieve goals and which allow people to apply scientific knowledge for practical purposes.

Once these five concepts have been explained I will proceed to formulate the following question:

  • Is Blabberize the only acceptable tool to make technology accessible and enjoyable for students?

My answer is that definitely not, since the TACCLE 2 book for primary school children suggested many more activities, giving teachers the possibility to choose the one that works better for them. Moreover, I believe it is crucial that the technology chosen is able to answer the educational goals that are intended to be achieved by the students (such as Bloom taxonomy) and that, of course, is accessible for everyone.

That was my reflection of the work we have done this week. I hope you found it interesting and thank you for reading me. See you next week!

FACILITATOR TASK 4

My name is Maria Camacho Hurtado and this week I have been the facilitator.

The purpose of this role is to make easier the group configuration, motivating my classmates and updating the blog.

In Thursday's class, our teacher explained to us the Pecha Kucha presentation that consists of 20 slides of 20 seconds each that pass automatically. On Friday, as responsible for the task distribution we decide the role and the two stars.

Moreover, we started reading the different activities by dividing up the different activities between us in order to go faster and to be able to use all the time we have. As result, we selected the activity of the Fuzzy Fe because we found the name appealing and interesting as it was related to children's feelings and we found it useful for our future work. Later, we read the activity and we started answering the questions together to have different points of view.

As a result, we did the Pecha Kucha presentation explaining the activity that was creating a talking 2D image to send a message to their colleagues, then we added the questions asked above, the process of creating the 2D image using the ‘Blabberize’ app and finally some recommendations.

I have to say that we were very motivated by doing this task due to the fact that it was a new and different tool. Furthermore, I have to say that my peers work hard to create a beautiful presentation doing it differently so I was very proud of them.

Talking about the blog, I did not have any problem due to the fact that my peers did great work and I had no problem because their posts we brilliant. I hope they continue like this throughout the year!!!

See you after easter!!!😊😊

JOURNALIST TASK 3

Hi everyone!!! It´s Victoria Corredor and this week I´ve been the journalist.

In the following paragraphs, I will explain in detail how our week has gone

Immediately after we had chosen the type of comic we were going to do (13 rue del percebe), we started looking for information and examples about it. Our first Zoom meeting was on March 12, and we spend a couple of hours looking for some templates and ideas to complete our fantas-TIC comic.

On March 14th we met at 10 a.m. to start recreating the idea we had thought two days earlier. We decided to divide into "rooms" to start recreating situations and conversations in small groups to make it easier for us to do so.  After having all the situations and conversations, we started to create our comic with the template and using some apps like for example Canva, for making characters and Photoshop to create some things like the smoke in one of the rooms or drops of water in another one.

For us, this activity has been a challenge, since we are not used to using this type of apps and doing this type of work, but on the other hand, it has been a very interesting and fun task that I have made us discover new methods of work.

FACILITATOR TASK 3

Hi! My name is Amparo and this week I have been the facilitator.

As the facilitator, I was in charge of motivating and encouraging my peers, apart from making easier the group configuration, being responsible for the distribution, the conflict mediation and checking the fulfilment of obligations.

In Thursday's class, because of being the facilitator, I had to decide what comic style we were going to use. I talked very quickly with my peers about which one was the more appropriate for us and, finally, we chose the 13 Rue del Percebe style. We chose this style because we had some ideas at the moment that we thought could look very good.

I must say that this week we were really motivated and we just needed two days to finish the task. As always, we decided our roles for the week and then, on Friday, we started. Everyone was cooperating, we were gathering information about our comic style and about the potentialities of the ICT. I distributed the activities, some of us were searching for resources to do the comic, and the others were selecting the potentialities and having ideas of how we could incorporate them in our comic. That day we ended up with almost everything decided.

On Sunday morning we were ready again. We also distributed some activities to be faster. Some of us were looking for the illustrations and the others were putting them into the comic, we were very motivated seeing how it was looking.

When we finish I congratulated my peers for the amazing job they did, we have worked very hard and we were very happy with how it turned out in the end. I am very proud of my group.
See you next week!!

ANALYST TASK 3

Hello! I am Elena Belver Morales and this week I was the Analyst, which means I was in charge of valuing the efforts of the team members and making a reflection on what we have learned with this task.

In this week's task, Potentialities of the digital in the classroom, we were required to reflect the four main potentialities of the ICT in a graphic story. There were a few possible formats to perform this activity and, after looking at all of them, we decided that the one who worked better for us was 13 Rue del Percebe Style.

This activity has proven to be extremely creative, which is something we believe to be crucial, especially considering that, as future teachers, we understand the importance of coming up with original ways to keep students engaged in the learning process.

The best part of the activity was, without a doubt, seeing how the vignette was beginning to take shape and what was the final result; we were all very proud of how it turned out. Meanwhile, the worst part of the task was probably searching for the right figures to use and how to distribute them for telling the story in a clear and concise way.

The highlight of the work of the group was how well we organized and structured our work —let us hope we can keep it up in the following weeks to come—. Everyone was really involved in the activity and gave great ideas. In order to be more productive, sometimes we divided into smaller groups, which was a very useful strategy.

However, it is also true that when you are working as a team there are always patches of miscommunication and different opinions, which sometimes makes it difficult to decide the best way to approach the task. Luckily, those are small problemas which were easily solved with communication and respect for others' ideas.

This activity has been a great acquisition of knowledge for all of us. Firstly, we have discovered many new Internet platforms and became well-versed in how to use them. Moreover, we have learned some basic aspects of comics since none of us had really been into them when we were younger. Also, we have mastered the ability of telling a story with very few words, which seemed really easy at the beginning but not so much when we were actually faced with having to design a vignette

This activity is, clearly, related to the contents of the subject, as it addresses the potentialities of the ICT in the classroom and how they are presented when we are in the context of the school. In addition to this, technology was indispensable for carrying out this task, as we did the whole vignette via the Internet and we needed Zoom and Google Drive to communicate with each other.

Finally, regarding the social connection of this task, it is clear the predominant role that technology has been playing in education ever since the Coronavirus pandemic changed the way schools were used to working. Nowadays, ICT are more important than ever and, almost certainly, they will continue holding a relevant place after this situation is over, because many teachers have discovered how useful technologies can be for education.

That was all for my weekly reflection. Thank you for reading this post and have a nice week!

CURATOR TASK 3

Hello! My name is María and this week I have been the curator.

The curator is in charge of organizing all the information sources that the group has used for the development of the activity.

This diagram shows the information sources that our group has used.

If you enter in this interactive image you can read the document!! I hope that you learn something!!

Moreover, we have used other apps like ADOBE PHOTOSHOP and CANVA to complete the task.

See you next week!!👋😊

STAR TASK 3

Hello, my name is Marina and this week I have performed the role of star.

As the star, I was in charge of doing the presentation of our comic in class so I was very nervous.

There was a misunderstanding because I didn't prepare the presentation well and I thought I had to say something that I didn't have to, but finally, everything went okay. The teacher let us 3 minutes to improve the presentation with our group and then, we presented it to the whole class.

I have to say that it was easier than I thought because I have had luck since I just had to talk about the process of doing our comic and the difficulties that we had found while doing it.

We did the comic with Photoshop and used the elements of Canvas. We had difficulties finding a tool to do our comic so we finally decided to do it as I have already said It was also very difficult for us to find relations between the different vignettes but with some comedy of the problems that also arrive witch ICT, I think that we managed to do it.

In the comic we have tried to show the 4 potentialities of ICT that we found in the text that for us were: Visualization. technology, democratization of knowledge and participatory learning. We combined it, as I have said, with some comedy about the problems that arrive with ICT.

Here I let our comic and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did while doing it!

TRANSLATOR TASK 3

 Hi everyone again!!

I´m Mari Carmen and this week I have the role of translator. I have done a very little presentation explaining the 5 more important concepts that we have learned in this task, so here you have the presentation.

PRESENTATION

I hope you like it, and that you spend a Fantas-TIC week!!

ANALYST TASK 2

 Hello again!!!!!

This is the second week, and now I have the role of Analyst, my name is Mª Carmen and I´m going to  play it in the best way I can. Do you know what that mean this role?

Well, I have to evaluate the work of my group members, just like my work. Moreover, I must also reflect on the positive and negative points of each activity, what we have learned, whether we can apply it in future classrooms, or what we can improve as a group.

As a team, we have learned how to collaborate with each other and organize work in a way that all of us have tasks to do in our regular activities. Later, as we are doing now, everyone plays an important role. This method is very useful since we are more productive and more effective.

This week we have been doing an activity which consisted of knowing what TPACK and ACAD are and try to find some relation between them. Here you have our poster of this work.

As for the best part of this activity has been doing the drawings, the time we have spent together at the same time we have learnt the different concepts of this task and also  different apps to make original things that my classmates and I shared with each one of us, for  instance, I know one app such as Gocorqn or Genially and I tell to them, as well as, for example another classmates of my group knows what is VISME and she tell to us.

On the other hand, the worse part of this activity has been maybe the difficulties we have had to find the relation between these new concepts and also to find the main ideas of them.Nevertherless, every moment in our group is Good, but if I have to say what has been the best one of the week, I would say that it was when we had to compared and discuss our different recopilation of information, I mean when we meet to put in common our researcher about both concepts to finally do the task.

Moreover, I don´t think that we had had some bad things doing this activity, because all are advantages; we have learnt a lot of new concepts such as, TPACK and ACAD which are very useful for our future as a teachers, because those one support both the learning and the teaching, so those methods are really useful and benefitial for the teacher and also for the student as a learner. All of these things are the ones which we have learned doing the activity at our own.

On the other hand, I have to mentioned what we have learnt in class. Firstly, we have learnt some different and useful apps to use in our daily life such as; Deepl, that it´s a very useful and amazing traductor and in this bilingual degree it´s too benefitial for us, another app is Purdue Online Writing Lab which it´s also very useful and can save time doing the APA style in our university Works. I also remember one page in which you can make hashtags to group all your information and be able to find it quickly, which is hashatit, which the teacher told us the first day of the class.

About the relation of this contents with others contents in the degree or in the course I think that in this case maybe TPACK and ACAD, are related with  Planification subject in the first quarter, since both apply to the understanding of how students learn, how to manage the classroom and how to plan tasks and classes to teach them in an organized way and following a planning.

Finally, 9 March,2021 in the classroom we presented the different group´s activities and at the end of the class the teacher give some feedback to us to improve our work. She has said to us  some advice such as, the different between task and activity, which are that a task is what you create for your students to do and an activity is where reality happens. Another aspect that she point out the differences between framework and model, which is that a framework helps you t osee reality in one way perspective, while the model is used to organize ideas.

Moreover, she explain us the difference bertween ACAD and TPACK; the first concept focuses on the design and is based in how the learning emergent and how us as a teacher situated learning, whereas TPACK is the knowledge you have.

As for the way in which we present the work, she has told us some useful advices for the future presentations, which are, for example, not to read a lot the content we have to say and to have more eye contact with our audience, also it´s important to do the things that she ask for and to know how to answer in a coherent way and not to answer the same she has ask us, I mean to have the ideas clear and to reflect in a mature way.

I hope you enjoy reading every Fantas-TIC moments and things we have learnt during this Fantas-TIC week !!

JOURNALIST TASK 2

Hi! It is Marina, and this week I have performed the role of Journalist.

In this link you could see a presentation that summarise the most important things of the week.

https://www.emaze.com/@AOTFLZTIT/journalist-task-2

Now I will explain how we have lived the week with more detail.

This task has been very controversial because we realised that we had to do it on the 28 of February since it was supposed to be for the 2nd of March (there was a misunderstanding in the group of WhatsApp) so we entered in panicked on Sunday night.

When we decided to start the task on Sunday night, we were not all connected so we divided the questions, one for each one, and in this way, we all had to read the links and be aware of what the task was about.

The next day, 1 st of March, we had all the questions answered and, between the free time of the classes, we talked about what type of mapping we were going to do. That same evening, we had a Zoom call and we did the map and finished the task.

At the first moment, the task seemed to be very difficult but it was because we were very stressed and we thought that we weren´t going to finish on time. Nevertheless, when we finished it, we realized the simplicity of this task.

Anyway, on the 2nd of March, we were very nervous as we thought we had to present it but the teacher said that we didn´t have to worry about it since that task was going to be for the next week (9th of March).

That same week, on Friday, we had a meeting to improve the blog and try to make a dropdown menu but we didn´t get it.

Finally, we presented our mind map on the 9th of March. As Elena was the star, shed did the presentation and we saw the different presentations that the other two groups of our classes did.

I would like to highlight the presentation of the group Happy flowers. In my opinion, their Prezi was really cool and the presentation was very enjoyable. In addition, I love the blog of the group Black Eyed Peers since I found it very ordered and interesting.

For this task, we have used the app Gocongr to do the map as we considered that it was the easiest and the fastest one. I have to say that I had never listened to talk about it before and I think that I will use it a lot to do some schemas or mind maps since it has been very easy to use.

Furthermore, for the day of the women 8m, we posted on our stories of Instagram some of the most important women in the history of education, and we let our followers told us which were their more inspirational women. I let here the link if you want to have a look.

https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/18199260052036316/

Finally, I would like to recommend an app that the teacher told us that is Grammarly. I had never heard of it but with no doubt whatsoever, it has become one of my favourite applications. It is better than a translator because it makes you think about the translation but it checks if what you have put is coherent, have any mistake and if it is clear.

STAR TASK 2

Hello! I am Elena Belver Morales and this week I performed the role of Star. Therefore, I will be presenting task 2, in which we were required to gather information about TPACK and ACAD Framework and recreate their features in a diagram.

What is TPACK and what is ACAD exactly?

We will start by explaining that TPACK is a theory that represents the relationship between 3 basic concepts that are: Content, Pedagogy and Knowledge, and how they have to interact among them to achieve an efficient teaching.

The other main concept that we addressed in this task is ACAD. It is a framework centered in the activity of the classroom where we can set conditions that are likely to lead to the types of activities that we find valuable and the learning outcomes that we aim for.

Which are the essential TPACK elements and how do they interact with each other?

Now we will proceed to explain the essential TPACK elements.

  • Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) covers the core business of teaching, learning, curriculum, assessment and reporting. An awareness of common misconceptions and ways of looking at them, the importance of forging connections among different content-based ideas, students’ prior knowledge, alternative teaching strategies, and the flexibility that comes from exploring alternative ways of looking at the same idea or problem are all essential for effective teaching.

  • Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK) is an understanding of how teaching and learning can change when particular technologies are used in particular ways. This includes knowing the pedagogical affordances and constraints of a range of technological tools as they relate to disciplinarily and developmentally appropriate pedagogical designs and strategies.

  • Technological Content Knowledge (TCK) is an understanding of the manner in which technology and content influence and constrain one another. They both have a deep historical relationship. Progress in fields as diverse as medicine, history, archeology, and physics have coincided with the development of new technologies that afford the representation and manipulation of data in new and fruitful ways.

Which are the essential ACAD elements and how do they interact with each other?

Regarding ACAD we must say it is activity-centered and it aims to support analysis and design of learning environments.

The essential elements to achieve this are: set design, which refers to how we arrange the physical or virtual learning environment; epistemic design, which means proposing tasks for students; and social design, which involves making decisions on how people work together.

These three dimensions come together in support of learning and, as a result, emerging activity appears —the final structural element, which deals with acts of co-creation and co-configuration when learners are required to decide what to do.

Emerging activity is the mediator that links the other elements to learning outcomes. Without this mechanism, that relationship could not happen.

How would TPACK be useful for you?

As teachers, the TPACK framework can be a very useful tool. Since technology is developing really fast and is being implemented in every field, it is very important to take this in mind in the field of education. In this century, education has suffered a great change, and in this year in particular we have lived this on the front line. However, we should consider that the concept of technology can be applied for analog and digital technology, the old one and the new one. We consider that a pencil and a software are both technologies.

Therefore, it is principal for teachers to use the TPACK framework, especially nowadays because of the demand of using the new technology in class. This framework provides an understanding of how content, pedagogy and technology interact with each other. Teachers should understand the base of their discipline in order to be effective. If not, students can misunderstand the information and create an incorrect framework of the concept. Moreover, teachers must know methodologies and techniques of teaching and learning, that is, they must have pedagogical knowledge. And related to that, they should have pedagogical content knowledge, which consists of the transformation of the subject matter for teaching, this transformation is different for everyone depending on their interpretations. Finally, they should have technological knowledge, this content is always changing and the definitions of it can be outdated incredibly fast.

Having all this in mind, it is evident that teachers should know the connections between the components and how they interact with each other. Here it is where the TPACK framework takes part. It provides a great range of options of how technology can be applied in education considering the other elements too. It gives the opportunities for teachers to have another point of view of how technology can be applied in education, not just like an “add-on”. In order to be an effective teacher and achieve an effective teaching, it is crucial to understand the TPACK framework.

How is TPACK related to ACAD?

In the first place, it is important to know that TPACK is how the three domains; the knowledge of content, pedagogy and technology work together in a very difficult way to support effective teaching.

In addition, it's also relevant to know that ACAD is an emergent activity, that includes the set, epistemic and social design, that it is what happens at the time of learning when tools, tasks and people come together in support of learning.

Once we know what are TPACK and ACAD, we can conclude that TPACK is close to ACAD because TPACK is produced when you, as a teacher have a technological knowledge, try to transmit to your students your knowledge and knows how to teach, at the same time you have developed these abilities, it's also important and necessary to have into account the environment in which you develop your courses, the tools, artifacts and resources you introduce to support learning. You also propose some suggestions about good things for students to do, besides deciding if people are going to work together or individually.

  • Conclusion:

To sum up, both concepts are related between them, since if you want to be understood by your students and also to provide an effective learning you have to represent technological knowledge, you also have to know what and how you are going to transmit this knowledge to your students, that´s TPACK. At the same time you have to consider where, what interesting tasks and who you are going to teach, thus everything is included in the context of how to teach in an effective way in the context of school.

Is there any important part of the Teacher’s action which hasn’t been included in the TPACKACAD model yet? Is TPACK-ACAD sufficient to understand a teacher’s job?

After having acknowledged all these concepts we were required to consider whether the TPACKACAD model lacks any part of the Teacher’s action.

Personally, we believe that it is necessary to take into account that a large part of the quality of education depends on the quality of the teacher and them having the personality needed for motivating students and responding to their needs, dealing with parents and other colleagues, as well as continue working on their professional career and keep improving their teaching skills.  Therefore, it is not enough as there are other important factors the Framework is not including.

We hope you have enjoyed it! Thanks for paying attention to our presentation.

FACILITATOR TASK 2

Hi!!! My name is Victoria Corredor Argudo and this week I have been the facilitator.

After class, we all divide the different roles. After seeing my role, I asked if everyone was happy with their role and after this, we started working. My group is not conflicted so the work has become very enjoyable.

The problem came when on Sunday afternoon we realized that the task was for Tuesday, at that time we all panicked, because the following Thursday we had an exam. After these minutes of panic, we decided to meet online and I tried to reassure my colleagues a little bit. We finally managed to finish the task.

This week I have been in charge of correcting and posting my peers work. It's been a very easy job because they all work very well.

TRANSLATOR TASK 2

CURATOR TASK 2

Hi! My name is Amparo Camacho and I have been the curator for this task.

I am in charge of compiling the information sources we have used. I have created a diagram with this information. Under the image, there is a link to an interactive image where you can click on it and you will access the information.

To make the diagram I used VISME, it is a very useful app to make diagrams and many other things.
Also, to make the interactive image I used GENIALLY.

JOURNALIST TASK 9

Hello again —and for the last time—! I am Elena and this week I performed the role of the Journalist, that means that I was in charge of doc...
