My name is Elena Belver Morales and I have performed the role of Journalist this week.
The 23rd of February we had Resources and ICT class and we were asked to create pictures related to six sentences about education, learning and teaching and then upload them to Padlet. We chose these sentences:
“Educators are artist, the education is work of art” (Octavio Fullat)
“Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself” (John Dewey)
“Never stop learning, because life never stops teaching” (Unknown)
“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn” (Benjamin Franklin)
“Learning is the only thing the mind never exhaust, never fears, and never regret” (Leonardo Da Vinci)
“I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think” (Socrates)
Each one of the members of the group was assigned a different sentence and was in charge of coming up with a picture related to the topic and then, add them to Padlet.
After this, we were required to create an Instagram account for our group and post our pictures. Our Instagram account is fantas.ticgirls and we uploaded the pictures and a profile picture.
We also created a blog (Fantas-TIC Girls) and we published our first post: WEEK 1. The Facilitator updated it writing down the role each of us performs.
The 26th of February, we held a meeting together and we created a QR code for our Padlet and for our Instagram page. We also allowed comments on Padlet, changed the profile picture, and changed the background to a greenish one. Regarding the blog, we changed the background to blue and the Facilitator updated it posting what the Translator, the Facilitator and Analyst have done this week.
Moreover, we all started to perform our roles and, since this was the first time we worked in this kind of format, we faced some difficulties. In general, we were slightly unsure of how to correctly perform our roles.
For instance, the Translator struggled a bit having to come up with the most possible suitable definition of terms. The Facilitator felt her role —distributing the work— was not much needed as we had already done that. The Curator’s main problem was finding the pages of which we had found the sentences, seeing that when we were required to look for the sentences we did not look in advance and we did not save the pages thinking we would not need them for later.
For me, as the Journalist, I mostly had trouble trying to post a comment on a blog. I tried several times and in different posts but I could not make it.
Also, it was difficult to keep a record of everyone’s work all the time as they were constantly collecting new information.
The 28th all of us finished our parts and the Facilitator uploaded what the other members of the group have been doing this week.
I searched for some interesting websites, for example this blog of our classmates, where I left a comment: https://lasdefinitivasrresourcesandictumu.blogspot.com
Also, I also found this blog to be quite useful for future teachers, but I could not leave a comment: http://rincondeunamaestra.blogspot.com
I have also created a Genially to present my work of this week in a more visual way: https://view.genial.ly/60397a8d4d21b20d8bc3d4d7/presentation-journalist
