JOURNALIST TASK 9

Hello again —and for the last time—! I am Elena and this week I performed the role of the Journalist, that means that I was in charge of documenting our journey doing this week’s task: Teaching in a Digital World.

In order to present my work in a more engaging approach I did this presentation in Genially: https://view.genial.ly/609d6a72285f7f0d85ef97f7/presentation-presentacion-periodico

Hope you like it! And hope you enjoyed going on this journey with us. It has been a pleasure for us but, “sadly”, it is time to say goodbye.

Have a nice end of semester and an even nicer summer!

FACILITATOR TASK 9

Hello everyone, I am Marina and this week I have performed the role of facilitator.

As you all already know this was our last task so we were really excited and we worked very hard to finish in the best way possible.

This week we had to create an infographic with the most important information about the main elements of the holistic model of teaching competences for a digital world, that´s teaching in the digital world.

As it was the last task, we wanted to finish it how much earlier, and also, since the next week we had an exam, we wanted to have time to review it, so once the teacher explained the task, we got on with it.

As facilitator like my group didn't arrive to a conclusion about when to have the meeting because we couldn't agree on our schedules, I arrived to a conclusion. We were going to had 3 meetings, one the same Thursday(in which there would be a part of the team) the second on Friday morning (where would be the whole group) and the third one on Friday evening(where would be the other part of the group that couldn't attend the previous day). But fortunately, we worked very hard and well together and just in two sessions we could finish it.

Furthermore, I have to admit that, on the weekend, we get a little bit stressed. There was a mate who said what we had to do by the group of WhatsApp and we thought that what we did was wrong, but after discussing it a long time and thinking a lot about what we did, we realised that everything was great and we were just nervous about the end.

Related to the blog, I updated it regarding the labels since I realised that many posts didn't have the labels they had to,so I put them in the correct place. Referring to the correction of the post of my team, I had no problems, they were all fantastic done and I enjoy reading them before uploading them to the blog.

And we have finally arrived to the end. It has been an amazing experience in which I think that all of us have learned a lot and that we have enjoyed too much. I hope that you have also enjoyed with us and learned with our weekly reflections.

We will miss you Fantas-Tic people!

ANALYST TASK 9

Hii Fantas-TIC people!!!! As you already know I´m Mª Carmen and this week I have been the Analyst. So my mission has been to evaluate my colleagues and their work during this task and also to make a reflection of it.

I have to say that this is our last task on the subject of Resources and ICT (RICT) and for this week we have had to create an infographic in which we gathered all the relevant information about the main elements of the holistic model of teaching competences for a digital world, that´s teaching in the digital world.

Nowadays, we find ourselves in the so-called Digital Era, in which possessing digital skills is essential to being a good and effective teacher, as they have to teach and prepare the students for the world in which we actually are and in the future, we will since the technology is the present and will be the future in a more advanced way.

Everybody knows that technology has changed the world in all the possible aspects, in the way of thinking, writing, communicating with others, acquiring knowledge, …

In the past, our families hadn´t had anything to search for and now everything we want to know is on the Internet. Moreover, the way in which we communicate with each other has changed a lot because with the emergence of the TIC we have replaced the lecture for images on the Internet and also we have created unconsciously a new way of talking, I mean on Whatsapp for example, we use some words in a short way, so then in an exam might be some people who make mistakes by the habit of writing in this way on the social networks, and this is just one example of thousands. However, technology offers us plenty of opportunities in our personal but also in our professional world. In addition, it helps teachers to make a more dynamic and interesting lesson, so it engages students to learn in a different way, become more autonomous and also to have  critical thinking  to have opinions about the world in which we all live, among the many things technology brings to both teachers and students.

Taking what we have seen in the previous tasks, to become a teacher in our days is more complex than it could be in the past, because of the non-existence of technology. What I want to say is that to be a teacher it´s really important to have technological knowledge and that it has to be related with the pedagogical and the content knowledge you must have, so that´s is TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) that I have mentioned before, we have studied in the previous tasks.

Focusing more on this week´s task, we have learned how to be an effective teacher in the digital world from the six elements (digital experts, enhance reflective practice, generator of pedagogical practices, teacher´s PLE, relationships between families and learners, and social engagement) we have had to reflect on.

As for the best and the worst part of the task, I have to confess that the best part has been that we all have to meet and see our faces on zoom. For me, and I supposed that for my colleagues too, another thing that I can consider the best is to have some knowledge that is going to be useful for us, as teachers, in the future, since with doing this task we have learned how to become a better and effective teacher and also the importance of having some technical skills that are relevant nowadays for us as future teachers to teach our future students as well as for them in their personal and professional environment.

Nevertheless, I have to say that maybe the worst part of this task has been to summarize the whole text to collect all the information in a few lines to put them in the infographic.

Taking in mind all the tasks we have been doing throughout the four-month period, analysing  the work in my group, I have to say that we have progressed throughout the time because, from my point of view, I think that in the first task we were a bit lost but then when Linda give us some feedback about each task we were trying harder and focusing even more on what she wanted to see from us, exploiting our potential and effort to the fullest and our critical thinking through reflections.

In conclusion, I have realized that nowadays is relevant and useful to know how to use digital tools and also that our Personal Learning Environment(PLE) is really important for us because we can obtain information and knowledge of different apps that we use every day, for instance, we use Tik Tok, Instagram and a lot of more apps, and I have become aware of how much knowledge we can acquire if we use these apps as a useful medium instead of waste our time with them.

I hope you found my reflection interesting and that you liked all the posts during the course of my group and me.

Have a Fantas-TIC week!!!

STAR TASK 9

Hi everyone!!! My name is Victoria Corredor Argudo and this last week I´ve been the Star. What is my role about? I´m in charge of presenting the weekly task that my group and I had previously done.

This week, our task consisted of creating an infographic about the Holistic Teaching Competence for a Digital World. This week has been the first time that I have been a star alone, because the previous time I did it with Amparo. This time I was a little more nervous because it was the last week and I wanted to do it very well to show all the work that my group and I had done. After a few nervous minutes, I think the performance has gone quite well. I hope you like that too!!!

STAR TASK 8

Hello my name is Marina and this week I have been the star.

As a star, I was in charge of presenting for my classmates our activity. I was quite nervous about the presentation in front of the class and I had to prepare it a lot so it was fluid and it didn't seem like if I were shaking, because for me, talking 7 minutes was a lot. Finally after many practices I think that everything went well and I defended our presentation doing my best.

I will let the link of our presentation, we hope you like it.

JOURNALIST TASK 8

Good morning, my name is Mª Carmen as you already know, and this week I have been the journalist!!!

As the journalist of my group, I have to collect everything we have done during this activity. Firstly, I have to say that this task was easy to do and it was really interesting and useful for our future as teachers, so we did it in two days.

- Here you have the presentation I have done for you to see what we have done in a more schematically way: https://view.genial.ly/6090182f93dd640d85baa4f0/presentation-journalist-task-8

The first thing we did was to read the task, the document and watched the videos the teacher said to us and once we had done it individually, we met on Friday the 30th of April in the morning to start doing the task and to share with our peers what we had understood of what we had read. Then, we start thinking about what app we can use to create an online announcement board all together, so at the end we chose Google classroom because it is the most familiar to every student and is easy to use too. So, on Friday we created on Google Classroom a class for each subject in an organized way, for Mathematics we created using the announcement board some posts, such as, tasks, links to videos, some mock exams, that we will prepared for them before doing the real exam, links for the online sessions to keep our students inform. Moreover, we search for some Youtube channels (“Math & Learning Videos 4 Kids”), blogs (https://matecitos.com/inicio-matecitos-4-primaria), and other webpages (https://webdeldocente.com/) to give students more exercises, explanations and more information about the subject to learn in Depth. Furthermore, we also created an English class in which we included the different competences in this subject to achieve different skills. So, for preparing the readings and writings we found some webpages and finally we chose liveworsheets, that is a page in which you can find a lot of exercises of all the subjects to practice, so we gave to them this link https://es.liveworksheets.com/worksheets/en/English_as_a_Second_Language_(ESL)/Reading_comprehension/Bart_Simpson*_daily_routine._kg273757sq to practice and improve their reading and writing skills at home. For improving the listening skill we found another page and we provided this link to our students https://es.liveworksheets.com/worksheets/en/English_as_a_Second_Language_(ESL)/Listening_comprehension/Listening_comprehension_mk1221366zs. To cover each competence we proposed to do the oral part by zoom or meeting whether all together, dividing the class in small groups or one by one. And finally, for the grammar and vocabulary we sent our students some questionnaires to do and a “pass word” every time we finish a unit to review it. So, all of these things we did on Friday was all together whereas on Saturday the 1st of May in the morning we created small random groups on zoom to divide the work, so we did two small groups of 3 people each one. One group (María Camacho, Amparo Camacho and me) did the Twitter account and we thought some activities to do in it, while in the other small group (Elena Belver, Marina Abadía and Victoria Corredor) created a Youtube channel and thought some activities to do in it too.

The fisrt group, in which I was, created a Twitter account to communicate with our students and to make announcements. Moreover, we asked the students some questions. For instance, for mathematics we raised a problem and the students had to comment the correct answer and the method they had used. Secondly, to encourage synthesis skills we asked students to read an article and summarize it in a tweet. If anything can be difficult for a student, it is to express an idea or summary in just 280 characters. And with Twitter, it's the better way to do it.

In addition, to improve their discussion skills, we created a hashtag (#wediscussabout) and post a comment about a topic. Then, the student should participate in the hashtag commenting what they think about it. In this way, they will learn how to be respectful and give their opinions in a proper way. Also, after an explanation in class we can post a survey on twitter with some questions related to the unit we have seen in class. The students should select the option they think is the correct one. They will have a period of 24 hours to do it. This is a fast way for teachers to obtain results and to know how students are progressing, so we know in what aspects do we have to improve or if some students need more help.

Finally, we created a Twitter account of the whole class to use it as a diary. Every week, three students will be in charge of documenting everyday of the week, posting a tweet telling what we have done. In this way, all the students will have the information about the week. The hashtag will be #fantasticweek… every week they will have to use the number of it. For example the first week they will use the hashtag #fantasticweek1. So, it will be easier to find the information.

On the other small group, they created a Youtube channel and decided what they were going to upload on it. In Youtube, they decided to share videos about Natural Science, so they searched for videos that explain things like the photosynthesis of the plants, the parts of the volcanos, the different types of  animals depending on their diet, the different types of animals and plants, the cell and its parts... , so we share with our students this link for them to see an example of how our videos would be: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0xQiogvUrM). Other video they shared was a very engaging one, about experimenting with water which has a set a good example of what we want our videos to be like, that is from the Youtube channel Guiainfantil https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnwAw86SIgA. Also they found a girl on Tik Tok that explain some tips very useful.Another page that was interesting wasSpotify where they had been inspired in how to approach the teaching of Natural Sciences by a few Podcasts that they found, so here you have the link: https://open.spotify.com/show/1Lb6AyTjz8BzFc1XgOtQPY?si=2e9SH3e-RVu0KWjhyss9KA&nd=1 .

So, once we had all the information collected, we started doing our PLE with the three apps we had used and everything we had created on these ones.

ANALYST WEEK 8

Hello again Fantas-TIC girls!! I am María Camacho and this week I have performed the role of the Analyst which consists of evaluating the work of the team member during this week.

The task of this week was about creating some permanent channels of online communication for us and our students and then generates the PLE that we will need to learn about developing each of these new channels in your school correctly. For our group, the best part of the activity was to search for apps that will increase the knowledge of our students by including them in our PLE due to the fact that we will use it every day to teach to our students.

Furthermore, the worst part of this task was to decide what we were going to include in our channels: YouTube channel, Twitter account and an online announcement board (Classroom). We decided that it was the most challenging part because we, as teachers, wanted that our students to benefit from the new materials we were going to include new in their PLE.

Talking about the best moment of the week was that we finished this task in two meetings what it makes us think that, compared to a few weeks ago, we have improved a lot as people and as colleagues. Moreover, no personal problems arise between us and we respect all opinions, getting different points of view and learning from them. However, the most problematic thing is that it is difficult to meet the entire group because we are six to choose when we will meet.

Doing this activity, we have learnt that in our online environment we can learn several things, even in apps that we use to have fun like Tik Tok. Our mothers always say that spending time with our mobile phone is not beneficial but what they don't know is that we can include these types of apps in our PLE due to the fact that nowadays we can learn new things but always safely and responsibly.

I personally think that our group works amazingly because at this stage of the course we know each other well and we do not have any problem of being wrong or having no idea at all. We all support each other and boost each other's spirits. However, what we have to control is our desire to talk about our lives, because we start and we have no end.

This content is related to other contents in the course because in other tasks we have discovered new apps and new materials that we can include in our PLE to learn more easily. As result, we, as teachers, want that our students have their personalized learning so I believe that the aim of our teacher was the same. Through the tasks that the teacher sent us, we have been discovering new applications, methods... In addition, thanks to the group work, we have been able to see different points of view and reflect on them.

Finally, regarding the social connection of this task, ICT has come into our lives to stay, getting better and better as time goes by, so our PLE will be changing for the better by including new updates. Looking back, today we are very fortunate to have the ICT to increase our knowledge even more.

FACILITATOR TASK 8

Hello everyone! I am Elena and this past week I played the role of the Facilitator, which means I was in charge of easing the group collaboration.

This week the task consisted of putting together a PLE (Personal Learning Environment) with the aspects that we needed to learn how to create a Youtube channel, a Twitter account and an online announcement board —we chose Classroom as our announcement board.

As my job was to distribute the work and to act as a leader, I suggested completing the task as soon as possible so that we would have more free time on the weekend. Everyone agreed, so we scheduled a Zoom meeting for Friday morning, before our Student diversity course.

On Friday, the first thing we did was, as a whole group, looking at the task and the different tools in order to understand them and make sure everyone knew what we were required to do. Here is a photo of all of us working together on Friday morning via Zoom:

After this, we divided our group into mini-groups as the task required, so that each mini-group was in charge of a different tool. Once we had collected everything we needed for each tool, we went back to the common room in Zoom and we created the PLE, taking into consideration the ideas each of us had and the information we had compiled.

I have to say that performing my role was relatively easy since it is very unlikely that there are conflicts between us and everyone was already motivated. Still, I did my best to lead my group and encourage them —at this point of the academic year we all can use a little bit of extra motivation. As part of my job, I also have to upload the blog and revise my group members' posts, which I will be doing in the next few days.

Thank you for reading me one more week. See you soon!

JOURNALIST TASK 9

Hello again —and for the last time—! I am Elena and this week I performed the role of the Journalist, that means that I was in charge of doc...
